The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in a televised session at 8:48 a.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Vice-Chair, Cathy McLeod, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Lois Brown, Luc Desnoyers, Nina Grewal, Irene Mathyssen, Cathy McLeod, Hon. Anita Neville and Michelle Simson.

 

Acting Members present: Christian Ouellet for Nicole Demers, Merv Tweed for Dona Cadman and Mike Wallace for Sylvie Boucher.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst; Havi Echenberg, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Leroy Stone. Canadian Council on Social Development: Peggy Taillon, President and Chief Executive Officer; Katherine Scott, Vice-President, Research. Fédération québécoise des professeures et professeurs d'université: Françoise Naudillon, Counsellor, Professor, Concordia University. Marketing Research and Intelligence Association: Doug Norris, Representative, Senior Vice-President and Chief Demographer, Environics Analytics; Greg Jodouin, Representative, Government Relations Consultant, PACE Consulting.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of the cancellation of the mandatory long form census and its impact on women's equality in Canada.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:28 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:31 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 10:33 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
