The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met in camera at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Jim Abbott, Dean Allison, Johanne Deschamps, Paul Dewar, Peter Goldring, James Lunney, Deepak Obhrai, Bernard Patry, Glen Douglas Pearson, Hon. Bob Rae and Dave Van Kesteren.

 

Acting Members present: France Bonsant for Jean Dorion.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst; James Lee, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 7, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of the implications and the ramifications of the referendum in Sudan.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: “The Referendum in Sudan: Where to after 2011?”.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee hold a meeting in camera on Thursday, December 16, 2010, with Gérard Latulippe, President of Rights & Democracy, and Aurel Braun, Chair of the Board of Directors; and that members be provided as soon as possible with copies of the Deloitte report in preparation for the meeting.

 

It was agreed, — That the Deloitte report remain confidential unless the Committee decides otherwise.

 

It was agreed, — That, in the event of an adjournment of the House prior to the meeting scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2010, officials from Rights & Democracy be asked to appear from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. instead, subject to their availability.

 

At 4:47 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
