The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met in a televised session and by videoconference at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, the Hon. Shawn Murphy, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Jim Abbott, Harold Albrecht, Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Paul Calandra, Patricia Davidson, Hon. Wayne Easter, Carole Freeman, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Pierre Poilievre, Bill Siksay and Ève-Mary Thaï Thi Lac.

 

Acting Members present: Ed Holder for Harold Albrecht.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Élise Hurtubise-Loranger, Analyst; Dara Lithwick, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: United States National Archives and Records Administration : David Ferriero, National Archivist; Pamela Wright, Chief Digital Access Strategist. As an individual: Beth Simone Noveck, Professor of Law. United States Department of Justice: Melanie Ann Pustay, Director, Office of Information Policy.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(h)(vi) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, April 1, 2010, the Committee resumed its study on open government.
 

David Ferriero, by videoconference from Washington D.C., Melanie Ann Pustay, by videoconference by Washington D.C., and Beth Simone Noveck by videoconference from New York, New York made statements and, with Pamela Wright by videoconference from Washington D.C., answered questions.

 

By unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

 

At 5:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
