The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met in a televised session at 8:48 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, James Bezan, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, James Bezan, Bernard Bigras, Blaine Calkins, Linda Duncan, Gerard Kennedy, Joyce Murray, Christian Ouellet, Robert Sopuck, Mark Warawa and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Francis Valeriote for Francis Scarpaleggia.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Kristen E. Courtney, Analyst; Tim Williams, Analyst. House of Commons: Mariane Beaudin, Procedural Clerk.

 

Appearing: Hon. Mr. Peter Kent, P.C., M.P., Minister of the Environment.

 

Witnesses: Department of the Environment: Paul Boothe, Deputy Minister; Michael Keenan, Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Policy Branch; Basia Ruta, Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Financial Officer, Finance and Corporate Branch. Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency: Elaine Feldman, President. Parks Canada Agency: Alan Latourelle, Chief Executive Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (C) 2010-2011: Votes 25c and 30c under ENVIRONMENT, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, February 8, 2011.
 

The Chair called Vote 25c under ENVIRONMENT.

 

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 9:49 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:55 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Vote 25c under ENVIRONMENT carried.

 

The Chair called Vote 30c under ENVIRONMENT.

 

Vote 30c under ENVIRONMENT carried.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Votes 25c and 30c under ENVIRONMENT to the House.

 

At 10:50 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
