The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met in a televised session at 8:46 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, David Tilson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Nicolas Dufour, Rick Dykstra, Nina Grewal, Robert Oliphant, Devinder Shory, Thierry St-Cyr, David Tilson, Justin Trudeau, Tim Uppal, Alice Wong and Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

 

Acting Members present: Libby Davies for Olivia Chow.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Daphne Keevil Harrold, Analyst; Julie Béchard, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Jason Kenney, P.C., M.P., Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism.

 

Witnesses: Department of Citizenship and Immigration: Neil Yeates, Deputy Minister; Claudette Deschênes, Assistant Deputy Minister, Operations; Mark G. Watters, Assistant Deputy Minister, Chief Financial Officer; Catrina Tapley, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic and Program Policy.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (C) 2010-2011: Votes 5c, 7c and 10c under CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION referred to the Committee on Tuesday, February 8, 2011; and
 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 3, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of Immigration Settlement and Adaptation Program.
 

The Chair called Vote 5c under CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION.

 

The Minister made a statement.

 

At 8:54 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 8:55 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

The Minister proceeded with his statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

The question: "Shall Vote 5c under CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION carry?" was put and was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 0.

 

The Chair called Vote 7c under CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION.

 

The question: "Shall Vote 7c under CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION carry?" was put and was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 0.

 

The Chair called Vote 10c under CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION.

 

The question: "Shall Vote 10c under CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION carry?" was put and was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 0.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Votes 5c, 7c and 10c under CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION to the House.

 

At 10:43 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
