The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 3:37 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Lee Richardson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Hon. Scott Brison, Ron Cannan, John Cannis, Ed Holder, Peter Julian, Gerald Keddy, Jean-Yves Laforest, Lee Richardson and Mario Silva.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Jim Abbott for Brad Trost and France Bonsant for Claude Guimond.

 

Associate Members present: Malcolm Allen.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Holden, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Don Stephenson, Assistant Deputy Minister, Trade Policy and Negotiations; Douglas George, Director, Bilateral Market Access; Ton Zuijdwijk, General Counsel, Market Access and Trade Remedies, Law Division; Thomas Marr, Acting Director General, Middle East and Maghreb. Department of Human Resources and Skills Development: Pierre P. Bouchard, Director, Bilateral and Regional Labour Affairs. Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food: Denis Landreville, Lead Negotiator, Regional Agreements, Negotiations and Multilateral Trade Policy Directorate.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, the Committee commenced its study on Canada-Jordan Free Trade Agreement.
 

Don Stephenson made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 4:37 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:44 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee adopt a budget of $20,900 for its study on Canada-Jordan Free trade Agreement.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of Canada-United States trade relations.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

At 5:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
