The Standing Committee on International Trade met in camera at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Lee Richardson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Ron Cannan, Claude Guimond, Martha Hall Findlay, Ed Holder, Peter Julian, Gerald Keddy, Jean-Yves Laforest, Lee Richardson, Mario Silva and Brad Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Shawn Murphy for John Cannis.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst; Simon Lapointe, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee defray the hospitality expenses related to working meals held during its travel to London, United Kingdom; Strasbourg, France; Budapest, Hungary and Rome, Italy from Saturday, November 20 to Friday, November 26, 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a draft budget respecting the Committee's proposed travel to Washington, D.C. in relation to its study of Canada-United States trade relations, for consideration by the Committee.

 

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its study on Canada-United States trade relations, members be required to use a travel point to participate in the Committee's proposed travel to Washington, D.C.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee undertake a study on commercial relations with India including a possible free trade agreement.

 

It was agreed, — That a meeting be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 to receive a briefing from representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade on the current state of Canada-United States trade relations.

 

At 10:15 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
