The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen St., the Chair, the Hon. Michael D. Chong, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Charlie Angus, Scott Armstrong, Patrick Brown, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Bonnie Crombie, Dean Del Mastro, Royal Galipeau, Carole Lavallée, Roger Pomerleau and Blake Richards.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Hedy Fry for Scott Simms and Francis Scarpaleggia for Pablo Rodriguez.

 

Associate Members present: Peter Braid.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst; Marion Ménard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Industry: Colette Downie, Director General, Marketplace Framework Policy Branch; Pamela Miller, Director General, Telecommunications Policy Branch. Department of Human Resources and Skills Development: Louis Beauséjour, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. Department of Canadian Heritage: Amanda Cliff, Director General, Broadcasting and Digital Communications Branch; Barbara Motzney, Director General, Copyright Policy.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, the Committee resumed its study on emerging and digital media: opportunities and challenges.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:21 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:22 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

The Committee gave instructions to the analysts for a draft report.

 

At 5:25 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
