The Legislative Committee on Bill C-32 met in a televised session at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Gordon Brown, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Charlie Angus, Sylvie Boucher, Peter Braid, Gordon Brown, Serge Cardin, Dean Del Mastro, Royal Galipeau, Marc Garneau, Mike Lake, Carole Lavallée, Hon. Dan McTeague and Pablo Rodriguez.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dara Lithwick, Analyst; Maxime-Olivier Thibodeau, Analyst. House of Commons: Michelle Tittley, Procedural Clerk.

 

Witnesses: As individuals: Giuseppina D'Agostino, Professor of Intellectual Property, Osgoode Hall Law School, York University; Michael Geist, Canada Research Chair, Internet and E-commerce Law, University of Ottawa; Barry Sookman, Partner, McCarthy Tétrault, Co-Chair of Technology Law Group.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Friday, November 5, 2010, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-32, An Act to amend the Copyright Act.
 

Giuseppina D'agostino, Michael Geist and Barry Sookman made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:00 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit to continue questioning of witnesses for an additional fifteen (15) minutes, until 4:15 p.m

 

At 4:19 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:48 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

At 5:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
