The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, David Sweet, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Guy André, Bonnie Crombie, Greg Kerr, Ben Lobb, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Robert Oliphant, Peter Stoffer, David Sweet and Robert Vincent.

 

Acting Members present: Scott Andrews for Hon. Judy Sgro and Merv Tweed for Brian Storseth.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Cox; Jean-Rodrigue Paré.

 

Appearing: Hon. Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Veterans Affairs.

 

Witnesses: Department of Veterans Affairs: Suzanne Tining, Deputy Minister.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

On motion of Peter Stoffer, it was agreed, — That the proposed travel budget to Ste-Anne's Hospital in Montreal in the amount of $ $2,587, be adopted.

 

At 11:08 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:28 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2010-2011: Votes 1, 5 and 10 under VETERANS AFFAIRS referred to the Committee on Wednesday, March 3, 2010; and
 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (C) 2009-2010: Votes 1c and 10c under VETERANS AFFAIRS referred to the Committee on Wednesday, March 3, 2010.
 

The Minister made a statement and, with Suzanne Tining, answered questions.

 

At 12:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
