The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met by videoconference at 8:48 a.m. this day, in Room C-160, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Bruce Stanton, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Larry Bagnell, Rob Clarke, Jean Crowder, Earl Dreeshen, Yvon Lévesque, Hon. Anita Neville, LaVar Payne, Greg Rickford, Todd Norman Russell, Bruce Stanton and John Weston.

 

Acting Members present: Gérard Asselin for Marc Lemay, Hon. Gurbax S. Malhi for Hon. Anita Neville and Irene Mathyssen for Jean Crowder.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Gauthier, Analyst; Danielle Lussier, Analyst; Shauna Troniak, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Council of Yukon First Nations: Mark Wedge, Chief, Carcross/Tagish First Nation.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 25, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of First Nations child and family services.
 

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, October 4, 2010, the Committee commenced its study of specific claims tribunal process.
 

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

 

On motion of Todd Norman Russell, it was agreed, — That the analyst outline the steps to be taken for dealing with the specific claims process.

 

At 9:44 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:51 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of Nutrition North Canada.
 

It was agreed, — That the study of recommendation B of the Nutrition North Canada draft report be postponed until the meeting of February 17, 2011.

 

It was agreed, — That the Nutrition North Canada draft report be considered at the meeting of Thursday, February 17, 2011.

 

It was agreed, — That the members of the Committee submit their new recommendations and new proposals of titles for the Nutrition North Canada report by Tuesday, February 15, 2011.

 

At 10:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
