The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 3:28 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Bruce Stanton, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Rob Clarke, Jean Crowder, Earl Dreeshen, John Duncan, Marc Lemay, Yvon Lévesque, Hon. Anita Neville, LaVar Payne, Greg Rickford, Todd Norman Russell and Bruce Stanton.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Maria Minna for Hon. Larry Bagnell.

 

Associate Members present: Cathy McLeod.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, March 29, 2010, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-3, An Act to promote gender equity in Indian registration by responding to the Court of Appeal for British Columbia decision in McIvor v. Canada (Registrar of Indian and Northern Affairs).
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee meet with the Canadian Human Rights Commission and the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development on Thursday, April 22, 2010 to consider Bill C-3, and that the Committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of the Bill on Tuesday, April 27, 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That Members submit any amendments on the Bill to the Clerk by no later than Friday, April 23, 2010.

 

At 7:15 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
