The Subcommittee on Gifts under the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met in camera at 9:36 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Scott Reid, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Chris Charlton, Claude DeBellefeuille, Hon. Marlene Jennings and Scott Reid.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michel Bédard, Analyst; Célia Jutras, Intern.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner: Mary Dawson, Commissioner, Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner; Catherine MacQuarrie, Assistant Commissioner, Policy and Communications; Lyne Robinson-Dalpé, Assistant Commissioner, Compliance and Advice.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee proceed to sit in public.

 

At 9:37 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

 

At 9:37 a.m., the Subcommittee proceeded to sit in public.

 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee proceed to sit in camera.

 

At 9:46 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

 

At 9:46 a.m., the Subcommittee resumed sitting in camera.

 
Pursuant to the Committee's order of Tuesday, January 27, 2009, the Subcommittee resumed its study of gifts under the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of gifts under the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons, Duff Conacher of the Government Ethics Coalition be invited to appear.

 

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of gifts under the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons, the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner, Mary Dawson be invited to appear again.

 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee do now adjourn.

 

At 10:58 a.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
