The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:03 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Dean Allison, Leon Benoit, Hon. Shawn Murphy, David Sweet, Paul Szabo and Merv C. Tweed.

 

Acting Members present: James Rajotte for Joe Preston.

 

Other Members present: Steven Blaney, Claude DeBellefeuille and Hon. Lawrence MacAulay.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Karen Thriepland, Coordinator, Logistics Services. Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs: Erica Pereira, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans: Julia Lockhart, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Official Languages: Isabelle Dumas, Clerk of the Committee. Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Senior Director (acting).

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee commenced its study on Budget submissions.
 

The Clerk gave a presentation on the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans be granted a travel budget of $117,935 to travel to the Magdalen Islands, Quebec; Montague, Prince Edward Island; Alma, New Brunswick and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, to hold public meetings and site visits, in relation to its study of the lobster fishery, from March 29 to April 2, 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs be granted a travel budget of $31,125 to travel to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, for a site visit to the Department of Veterans Affairs, in relation to its study of the comparison of veterans services offered by members of the Commonwealth and the G8, in April 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs be granted a travel budget of $2,205 to travel to Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec, for a site visit to the Ste. Anne’s Hospital, in relation to its study of the comparison of veterans services offered by members of the Commonwealth and the G8, on April 1, 2009.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the request for reimbursement presented by Steven Blaney regarding a witness who submitted his expense claim to the Standing Committee on Official Languages after the 60-day deadline be concurred in.

 

At 1:31 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
