PROC Committee Report

Pursuant to its mandate under Standing Order 108(3)(a)(iii), your Committee has considered the Standing Orders of the House of Commons.

Conformément au mandat que lui confère le sous-alinéa 108(3)a)(iii), le Comité a examiné le Règlement de la Chambre des communes.

The Committee recommends that the Standing Orders be amended by replacing Standing Order 153 with the following:

Le Comité recommande que le Règlement soit modifié par substitution, à l’article 153, de ce qui suit :

153. At the commencement of every session of Parliament, the Law Clerk of the House shall make available to each Member, in printed or electronic form, a list of the reports or other periodical statements which it is the duty of any officer or department of the government, or any bank or other corporate body to make to the House, referring to the Act or resolution, and page of the volume of the laws or Journals wherein the same may be ordered; and placing under the name of each officer or corporation a list of reports or returns required to be made, and the time when the report or periodical statement may be expected.

153. Au commencement de chaque session de la législature, le Légiste de la Chambre est tenu de mettre à la disposition de chacun des députés, sous forme imprimée ou électronique, une liste des rapports ou autres états périodiques qu'il incombe à tout fonctionnaire, ministère ou département d'État fédéral, à toute banque ou à tout autre corps constitué, de transmettre à la Chambre, en y indiquant la loi ou la résolution et la page du recueil des statuts ou des Journaux qui ordonnent la production desdits rapports ou états périodiques. Il doit également placer sous le nom de chaque fonctionnaire ou corps constitué une liste des rapports ou comptes rendus qu'il incombe à celui-ci de présenter, et y indiquer, en même temps, l'époque où la Chambre a lieu de s'attendre à leur réception.

The Committee further recommends that Standing Order 156, deleted on June 10, 1994, read as follows:

Le Comité recommande également que l’article 156, qui a été supprimé le 10 juin 1994, se lise comme suit :

156. (1) The Law Clerk of the House may, as required at any stage in the legislative process, make minor non-substantive corrections to a bill, including corrections:

(a) to remove technical, typographical, grammatical or punctuation errors;
