The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 214, Wellington Building, the Chair, the Hon. Michael D.Chong, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Gordon Brown, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Siobhan Coady, Mike Lake, Dave Van Kesteren, Robert Vincent and Chris Warkentin.

Acting Members present: Martha Hall Findlay for Marc Garneau, Wayne Marston for Brian Masse, Daniel Paillé for Robert Bouchard, David Sweet for Mike Wallace and Francis Valeriote for Anthony Rota.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dillan Theckedath, Analyst ; Nathalie Pothier, Analyst.

Witnesses: Canadian Bankers Association: Terry Campbell, Vice-President, Policy; Marion Wrobel, Director, Market and Regulatory Developments. Business Development Bank of Canada: Jean-René Halde, President and Chief Executive Officer; Jérôme Nycz, Vice-President, Strategy and Planning. GrowthWorks Atlantic Ltd.: Thomas J. Hayes, President and Chief Executive Officer. Canada's Venture Capital and Private Equity Association: Richard Rémillard, Executive Director.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, November 2, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of the recent economic performance of small and medium-size enterprises in Canada.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
