The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in camera at 11:09 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Patricia Davidson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Patricia Davidson, Nicole Demers, Johanne Deschamps, Candice Hoeppner, Irene Mathyssen, Hon. Anita Neville, Tilly O'Neill-Gordon and Lise Zarac.

 

Acting Members present: Serge Cardin for Johanne Deschamps, Kirsty Duncan for Hon. Hedy Fry and Shelly Glover for Cathy McLeod.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Shahrzad Mobasher Fard, Analyst; Clara Morgan, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: DisAbled Women's Network of Canada: Carmela Hutchison, President.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee meet with a delegation from Vietnam on Thursday, April 2, 2009; and that the Clerks, in consultation with the Chair, make the necessary arrangements for a meet and greet with members of the Standing Committee on the Status of Women, members of the delegation and essential staff, in accordance with the guidelines specified in the Financial Management and Policy Guide for Committees.

 

At 11:17 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:31 a.m., the sitting resumed in public.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of the consequences and effects the current Employment Insurance (EI) programs have on Women in Canada.
 

Carmela Hutchison made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 12:42 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
