The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Hedy Fry, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Nicole Demers, Luc Desnoyers, Hon. Hedy Fry, Candice Hoeppner, Irene Mathyssen, Cathy McLeod, Hon. Anita Neville, Dave Van Kesteren and Lise Zarac.

 

Acting Members present: Bruce Stanton for Alice Wong.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Cool, Analyst; Jean-François Nadeau, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Vancouver Police Department: Bob Usui, Inspector, Special Investigation Section. Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada: Paul Desautels, Director, Operational Management Coordination, Temporary Resident Program Delivery. Royal Canadian Mounted Police: Michel Aubin, Director, Federal and International Operations; Marie-Claude Arsenault, Non-Commissioned Officer, Human Trafficking National Coordination Centre. Department of Public Safety: Barry MacKillop, Director General, Law Enforcement and Border Strategies Directorate. Canada Border Services Agency: Ken Lamontagne, Director, Intelligence Risk Assessment and Analysis Division, Enforcement Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, the Committee commenced its study of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and human trafficking.
 

Bob Usui by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, Barry MacKillop, Michel Aubin, Ken Lamontagne and Paul Desautels made statements and, with Marie-Claude Arsenault, answered questions.

 

At 4:26 p.m., Candice Hoeppner took the Chair.

 

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:38 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera, Hon. Hedy Fry presiding.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 1, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of women and pension security.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

At 5:19 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
