The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met in camera at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Kelly Block, Bob Dechert, Earl Dreeshen, Pierre Poilievre, Bill Siksay, Michelle Simson, Paul Szabo and Ève-Mary Thaï Thi Lac.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Jim Karygiannis for Borys Wrzesnewskyj, Richard Nadeau for Carole Freeman and Dave Van Kesteren for Russ Hiebert.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Élise Hurtubise-Loranger, Analyst; Alysia Davies, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, February 9, 2009, the Committee resumed its study on the Privacy Act Reform.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair put an appropriate responsible title on the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report a dissenting opinion from the Member of the New Democratic Party provided that it is no more than 2 pages in length and submitted electronically to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than Friday, June 5, 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That a news release be prepared by the Analysts and the Clerk, in consultation with the Chair, for publication on the Committee's website and for distribution upon presentation of the report to the House.

 

At 4:21 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
