| In accordance with its mandate pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), your Committee has considered the issue of granting of citizenship of children adopted abroad. | Conformément au mandat que lui confère le paragraphe 108(2) du Règlement, votre Comité a examiné la question du processus d'octroi de la citoyenneté des enfants adoptés à l'étranger. |
| The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration recommends that the government immediately speed up the process that allows for the granting of citizenship to non-Canadian children adopted abroad by Canadian parents, without requiring that such children first become permanent residents. | Le Comité permanent de la citoyenneté et de l’immigration recommande que le gouvernement accélère sur-le-champ le processus d’octroi de la citoyenneté à des enfants non canadiens adoptés à l’étranger par des parents canadiens, sans exiger que ces enfants deviennent d’abord résidents permanents. |
