EVIDENCE
Thursday, March 5, 2009
[Recorded by Electronic Apparatus]
[English]
Order, please.
This is the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration, meeting number five, on Thursday, March 5, 2009. There are two orders of the day: committee business, a notice of motion by Mr. Dykstra; and then we will proceed to in camera proceedings pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), a study of the undocumented and temporary foreign workers.
We are ready to start. Mr. Dykstra, you have the floor.
Thank you, Mr. Chair.
After some consideration and discussions with my colleagues who sit on the opposite side of the table from me, while I am disappointed about the fact that we had what looked like a strange coincidence with respect to a report that we're going to be dealing with shortly, I have every confidence that people who sit around this table have the confidence in each other and also understand the importance of not having a report like this breached, in terms of not keeping it within the group. I have every confidence that that did not in fact take place.
At this point, I will withdraw the motion I have put forward.
Yes. There is a letter from the lawyer who put out the press release that we talked about at the end of the last meeting--which Mr. Dykstra was talking about. We can circulate it; it basically says he never received any secret documents.
From the chair's perspective, we do hope that things are kept confidential in this committee. I probably shouldn't be commenting on this, but I have some obligation to try to keep order, and it sounds like we're resolving things and we all have an understanding.
Thank you, very much, Ms. Chow.
