The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 9:03 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Bruce Stanton, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Hon. Larry Bagnell, Hon. Mauril Bélanger, Rob Clarke, John Duncan, Marc Lemay, LaVar Payne, Greg Rickford, Todd Norman Russell and Bruce Stanton.

Acting Members present: Gérard Asselin for Yvon Lévesque and Dennis Bevington for Jean Crowder.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mary Hurley, Analyst.

Witnesses: Government of Nunavut: Rosemary Keenainak, Deputy Minister, Department of Economic Development and Transportation; Ed McKenna, Director, Department of Economic Development and Transportation, Policy, Planning and Communications Division. Government of the Northwest Territories: Garry Singer, Director, Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment, Investment and Economic Analysis; Peter Vician, Deputy Minister, Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment. Government of Yukon: Harvey Brooks, Deputy Minister, Department of Economic Development; Harley Trudeau, Senior Representative, Intergovernmental Relations; Steve Rose, Director, Department of Economic Development, Policy, Planning and Research.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of Northern Territories Economic Development: Barriers and Solutions.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 10:58 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
