Mr. Laforest (Saint-Maurice—Champlain), seconded by Mr. Lessard (Chambly—Borduas), moved, — That, in the opinion of the House, securities regulation falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of Quebec and the provinces and that, therefore, the federal government should reject, once and for all, the idea of creating a single securities regulator for all of Canada, thereby respecting the unanimous will of the National Assembly of Quebec.

Recommendation

Her Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled “An Act to give effect to the Maanulth First Nations Final Agreement and to make consequential amendments to other Acts”.

Pursuant to Standing Order 69(2), on motion of Mr. Nicholson (Minister of Justice), seconded by Mr. Hill (Leader of the Government in the House of Commons), Bill S-4, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (identity theft and related misconduct), was read the first time and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.
