The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in camera at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 200, West Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, France Bonsant, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Rodger Cuzner, Ruby Dhalla, Jacques Gourde, Mike Lake, Yves Lessard, Michael Savage, Hon. Judy Sgro and Lynne Yelich.

 

Acting Members present: Denise Savoie for Tony Martin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, Analyst; Kevin Kerr, Analyst. House of Commons: Miriam Burke, Procedural Clerk.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee undertake an examination of employability issues in Canada, such as workers mobility, seasonal workers, older workers, skilled worker shortages, workplace literacy and the recognition of foreign credentials .

 

It was agreed, — That the evidence and documentation received by the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities during the First Session of the 39th Parliament in relation to its study of employability issues in Canada, such as workers mobility, seasonal workers, older workers, skilled worker shortages, workplace literacy and the recognition of foreign credentials be taken into consideration by the Committee in the current session.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, November 26, 2007, the Committee commenced its study of Employability in Canada.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
