The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 9:07 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Fabian Manning, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, Raynald Blais, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Blaine Calkins, Randy Kamp, Gerald Keddy, Yvon Lévesque, Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Fabian Manning, Bill Matthews, Scott Simms and Peter Stoffer.

 

Acting Members present: Russ Hiebert for Mike Allen.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: François Côté, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Richard Arseneault, Principal; Andrew Ferguson, Principal; Ron Thompson, Assistant Auditor General, Former Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development; Scott Vaughan, Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on the March 2008 Report of the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development.
 

Ron Thompson made statements and, with other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 9:21 a.m., Bill Matthews took the Chair.

 

At 9:26 a.m., Fabian Manning took the Chair.

 

At 10:15 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:18 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $151,248, for the Committee's travel to Brussels in September-October 2008 be adopted and that the Chair present the said budget to the Budget Subcommittee of the Liaison Committee.

 

At 10:40 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
