The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met in camera at 3:51 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Thierry St-Cyr, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Maurizio Bevilacqua, Robert Carrier, Olivia Chow, Nina Grewal, Hon. Jim Karygiannis, Wajid Khan, Ed Komarnicki and Thierry St-Cyr.

 

Acting Members present: Steven Blaney for Norman Doyle and Hon. Maria Minna for Colleen Beaumier.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Penny Becklumb, Analyst; Sandra Elgersma, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, December 11, 2007, the Committee resumed its study of Immigration Consultants.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee adopt the draft report as the Committee's report, and that the Chair present the said report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report a dissenting opinion from the Conservative members of the Committee provided that it is no longer than the report itself and submitted to the Clerk of the Committee no later than 5:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 11, 2008.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair be authorized to make such typographical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That 50 copies of the report be printed in accordance with the policy established by the Board of Internal Economy in a tumble bilingual format.

 

At 3:55 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
