The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Rob Anders, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Ron Cannan, Roger Gaudet, Hon. Albina Guarnieri, Betty Hinton, Gilles-A. Perron, Bev Shipley, Peter Stoffer, David Sweet and Roger Valley.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett for Hon. Albina Guarnieri and Hon. Maria Minna for Todd Norman Russell.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michel Rossignol, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Australian High Commission: His Excellency William Fisher, High Commissioner. Australian Department of Veterans Affairs: Adam Luckhurst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on April 1, 2008, the Committee resumed its study of Comparison Study of Veterans Services Offered by Members of the Commonwealth and the G8.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:14 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:15 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee travel to the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa on Thursday June 12, 2008 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in relation to its Comparison Study of Veterans Services Offered by Members of the Commonwealth and the G8.

 

On motion of Peter Stoffer, it was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $400 for the Committee’s travel to the National Military Cemetery be increased to $500.

 

At 5:19 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
