Statutory Order

Mr. Day (Minister of Public Safety) for Mr. Nicholson (Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada), seconded by Mr. Hill (Secretary of State), moved, —

1. That pursuant to subsection 83.32(1) of the Criminal Code, the application of sections 83.28, 83.29 and 83.3 of that Act be extended for a period of three years from the first day on which this resolution is passed by both Houses of Parliament.
2. That this Resolution come into force on the day on which it has been passed by both Houses of Parliament.

Presenting Reports from Interparliamentary Delegations
Pursuant to Standing Order 34(1), Mr. Hiebert (South Surrey—White Rock—Cloverdale) presented the report of the Canadian Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) concerning its participation at the 18th Seminar of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, held in the Turks and Caicos Islands, from May 28 to June 3, 2006. — Sessional Paper No. 8565-391-53-08.

Presenting Reports from Committees

Mr. Goodyear (Cambridge), from the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs, presented the 33rd Report of the Committee (items to remain votable). — Sessional Paper No. 8510-391-155.

Pursuant to Standing Order 91.1(2), the report was deemed concurred in.

Mr. Allison (Niagara West—Glanbrook), from the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities, presented the Eighth Report of the Committee (recommendations of the First Report of the Committee on the Summer Career Placement Program). — Sessional Paper No. 8510-391-156.

Pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee requested that the government table a comprehensive response.

A copy of the relevant Minutes of Proceedings (Meeting No. 52) was tabled.


Motions

By unanimous consent, it was ordered, — That, in relation to its study on refugee issues, twelve members of the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration be authorized to travel to Kingston, Ontario, on February 11 and 12, 2007, and that the necessary staff do accompany the Committee.

The House resumed consideration at report stage of Bill C-288, An Act to ensure Canada meets its global climate change obligations under the Kyoto Protocol, as reported by the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development with amendments;

And of the motions in Group No. 1 (Motions Nos. 1 to 3).

Motion No. 1 of Mr. Rodriguez (Honoré-Mercier), seconded by Mr. McGuinty (Ottawa South), — That Bill C-288, in Clause 5, be amended by replacing, in the English version, line 11 on page 4 with the following:

“(iii.1) a just”

Motion No. 2 of Mr. Rodriguez (Honoré-Mercier), seconded by Mr. McGuinty (Ottawa South), — That Bill C-288, in Clause 10, be amended:

(a) by replacing, in the French version, line 30 on page 8 with the following:

“(i) sur la probabilité que chacun des règle-”

(b) by replacing, in the French version, line 34 on page 8 with the following:

“(ii) sur la probabilité que l'ensemble des”

(c) by replacing, in the French version, line 39 on page 8 with the following:

“(iii) sur toute autre question qu'elle estime”

Motion No. 3 of Mr. Rodriguez (Honoré-Mercier), seconded by Mr. McGuinty (Ottawa South), — That Bill C-288, in Clause 10, be amended by replacing, in the French version, lines 4 and 5 on page 9 with the following:

“de la Chambre des communes, lesquels les déposent devant leur chambre respective”
