The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Yasmin Ratansi, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Patricia Davidson, Nicole Demers, Johanne Deschamps, Nina Grewal, Irene Mathyssen, Hon. Maria Minna, Hon. Anita Neville, Yasmin Ratansi and Joy Smith.

 

Acting Members present: Rick Dykstra for Hon. Helena Guergis.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Cool, Analyst; Nathalie Pothier, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Certified General Accountants Association of Canada: Louise Nesterenko, Fellow Certified General Accountant; Carole Presseault, Vice-President, Government and Regulatory Affairs.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, May 30th, 2006, the Committee resumed its study of economic security of women.
 

Carole Presseault made a statement and, with Louise Nesterenko answered questions.

 

At 4:22 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:26 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of a possible breach of parliamentary privilege.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair of the Committee send a confidential letter to the Speaker of the House of Commons outlining concerns surrounding this potential breach of parliamentary privilege.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of drafting instructions related to the study of the economic security of women.
 

Irene Mathyssen, Vice-Chair, took the Chair.

 

At 4:50 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
