The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met in camera at 11:08 a.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Bob Mills, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, Luc Harvey, Marcel Lussier, Bob Mills, Hon. Geoff Regan, Anthony Rota, Maurice Vellacott and Mark Warawa.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. John Godfrey for Francis Scarpaleggia, Christian Ouellet for Bernard Bigras and Borys Wrzesnewskyj for David J. McGuinty.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sam Banks, Analyst; Tim Williams, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and section 343 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, the Committee resumed the statutory review of the Act.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: The Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 — Five-Year Review: Closing the Gaps.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report a dissenting or supplementary opinion from the Bloc Québécois provided that it is no more than 12 pages in length and is submitted electronically to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than 4:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 26, 2007.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee make the necessary arrangements for a press conference to be held after the tabling of the Committee’s report to the House on The Canadian Envrionmental Protection Act, 1999 — Five-Year Review: Closing the Gaps; and that Committee be represented by the Chair and a representative from each party.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 12:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
