The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met in a televised session at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Bob Mills, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Bernard Bigras, Blaine Calkins, Nathan Cullen, Luc Harvey, Marcel Lussier, Bob Mills, Francis Scarpaleggia, Mario Silva, Maurice Vellacott and Mark Warawa.

 

Acting Members present: Laurie Hawn for Luc Harvey, Christian Ouellet for Bernard Bigras and Lloyd St. Amand for Francis Scarpaleggia.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sam Banks, Analyst; Tim Williams, Analyst. House of Commons: Justin Vaive, Committee Clerk.

 

Witnesses: Reach for Unbleached Foundation: Delores Broten, Senior Policy Advisor. Forest Products Association of Canada: Catherine Cobden, Vice-President, Environment. Environmental Education Association of Yukon: Gregory Heming.

 

Participants present: Department of the Environment: Cynthia Wright, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, Environmental Stewardship Branch. Department of Health: Paul Glover, Director General, Safe Environments Programme.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and section 343 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, the Committee resumed the statutory review of the Act - Cooperation with the Provinces, Territories and Aboriginal Peoples.
 

Delores Broten, Gregory Heming and Catherine Cobden made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 4:53 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
