The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met in a televised session at 11:04 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Norman Doyle, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Omar Alghabra, Barry Devolin, Norman Doyle, Meili Faille, Raymond Gravel, Rahim Jaffer, Hon. Jim Karygiannis, Ed Komarnicki, Bill Siksay, Hon. Andrew Telegdi and Blair Wilson.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Andrew Kitching, Analyst; Trupati Patel, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Lost Canadian Organization: Don Chapman. Mennonite Central Committee Canada: Bill Janzen, Director, Ottawa Office; Mary Boniferro, Documentation Worker, Aylmer (Ontario). National Congress of Chinese Canadians: David Choi, Director. As individuals: Magali Castro-Gyr; Rod Donaldson, Former Toronto Police Officer ; Christine Eden, Chairperson, Air Force, Canadian Military Adult Children Citizenship Status; Barbara Porteous; Joe Taylor; Sheila Walshe.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 1, 2007, the Committee its study of Loss of Canadian Citizenship for the years 1947, 1977 and 2007 .
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 1:23 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:24 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee adopt the 11th Report of the Committee - Question of Privilege, and that the Chair present the report to the House.

 

At 1:24 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
