The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 9:03 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Gary Schellenberger, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Jim Abbott, Diane Bourgeois, Ed Fast, Hon. Hedy Fry, Tina Keeper, Maka Kotto, Gary Schellenberger, Hon. Andy Scott and Chris Warkentin.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Charles Hubbard for Francis Scarpaleggia, Brian Masse for Charlie Angus and Hon. Gerry Ritz for Gord Brown.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Marion Ménard, Analyst; Matthew Carnaghan, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Directors Guild of Canada: Pamela Brand, National Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer; Monique Lafontaine, General Counsel and Director of Regulatory Affairs. Alliance for Children and Television: Peter Moss, President; Steven DeNure, Vice-Chair; Caroline Fortier, Executive Director. Canadian Broadcasting Corporation: Robert Rabinovitch, President and Chief Executive Officer; Richard Stursberg, Executive Vice-President, Television (English); Sylvain Lafrance, Executive Vice-President, French Services.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of the Future of the Canadian Television Fund
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 10:00 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:07 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Robert Rabinovitch made a statement and with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 10:58 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
