    We can now proceed to the election of chair. I'm ready to receive motions to that effect.
    Mr. Simms.
Mr. Scott Simms (Bonavista—Gander—Grand Falls—Windsor, Lib.):
    It would be my honour, sir, to nominate Gary Schellenberger as our chair.
The Clerk:
    Are there any other nominations?
    It is moved by Mr. Simms that Mr. Schellenberger be elected chair of this committee. Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
    (Motion agreed to)
The Clerk:
     I declare Mr. Schellenberger duly elected chair of this committee.
    I will now proceed to the election of the first vice-chair of this committee. I am ready to receive motions for the vice-chair of this committee.
Mr. Gary Schellenberger (Perth—Wellington, CPC):
    I nominate Mauril Bélanger.
The Clerk:
    It is moved by Mr. Schellenberger that Mr. Mauril Bélanger be elected vice-chair of this committee.
