Today being the first day of the meeting of the First Session of the 38th Parliament for the dispatch of business, Mr. William C. Corbett, Clerk of the House of Commons, Ms. Audrey O'Brien, Deputy Clerk of the House of Commons, Major-General Maurice Gaston Cloutier, CMM, C.V.O., O.St.J., C.D., Sergeant-at-Arms of the House of Commons, Mr. R. R. Walsh, Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel of the House of Commons and Mr. Marc Bosc, Clerk Assistant of the House of Commons, Commissioners appointed per dedimus potestatem for the purpose of administering the oath to Members of the House of Commons, attending according to their duty, Mr. William C. Corbett laid upon the Table a list of the Members returned to serve in this Parliament received by him as Clerk of the House of Commons from and certified under the hand of Ms. Diane R. Davidson, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer and Chief Legal Counsel (Sessional Paper No. 8530-381-01). |

THIS IS TO CERTIFY that following dissolution of the Thirty-Seventh Parliament on the twenty-third day of May 2004, writs of election were issued on the same date by command of Her Excellency the Governor General for the election of a member to serve in the House of Commons for every electoral district in Canada, such writs being severally addressed to the returning officers mentioned in the attached list and directing that the nomination of candidates be held on the seventh day of June 2004, and the poll, if required, on the twenty-eighth day of June 2004. |
LA PRÉSENTE CERTIFIE QUE, à la suite de la dissolution de la trente-septième législature le vingt-troisième jour de mai 2004, les brefs ont été émis le même jour, sur l’ordre de Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale, ordonnant l’élection dans chaque circonscription au Canada d’un député à la Chambre des communes.
