The Standing Committee on Transport met at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 371 West Block, the Chair, Roger Gallaway, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dave Batters, Raymond Bonin, Robert Carrier, Bev Desjarlais, Hon. Roger Gallaway, Hon. Jim Karygiannis, Hon. Rob Nicholson, Francis Scarpaleggia, Andrew Scheer, Caroline St-Hilaire and Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Fisheries and Oceans: Charles Gadula, Director General, Marine Programs Directorate. Department of Transport: Michel Gaudreau, Director, Commercial and Business Aviation; Mark Gauthier, Senior Counsel, Legal Services; Marc Grégoire, Assistant Deputy Minister, Safety and Security Group. Department of Fisheries and Oceans: Yvette-Marie Kieran, Senior Counsel, Legal Services. Department of Transport: Gerard A. McDonald, Director General, Marine Safety; Merlin Preuss, Director General, Civil Aviation; Brigit Proulx, Legal Counsel, Legal Services.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, October 18, 2004, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-3, An Act to amend the Canada Shipping Act, the Canada Shipping Act, 2001, the Canada National Marine Conservation Areas Act and the Oceans Act.
 

Charles Gadula made a statement and answered questions.

 

The Committee commenced its clause-by-clause study of the Bill.

 

Clause 1 carried on division.

 

Clause 2 carried on division.

 

Clauses 3 to 37 inclusive carried on division severally.

 

The Title carried on division.

 

The Bill carried.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair report the Bill to the House.

 

Andrew Scheer and Caroline St-Hilaire each gave notice of a motion to be considered at the next meeting of the Committee.

 

At 3:54 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:05 p.m., the sitting resumed in-camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its study of Committee Business - Documentation on Flight Attendants
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

It was agreed, — That the documents presented to the Committee on Flight Attendants be translated in their entirety and that the bilingual set of documents be made available, through the clerk of the Committee, to members of the Committee who will be able to consult them at will, with no limitation of time, in a secure room on the Hill.

 

It was agreed, — That Ms. Frances Wokes (Winnipeg) and Ms. Susan Greene (Ottawa) be invited to appear before the Committee in relation to the Flight Attendants issue.

 

At 5:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
