The Chair (Hon. Don Boudria (Glengarry—Prescott—Russell, Lib.)): Pursuant to the order of reference of Thursday, December 9, 2004, we have before us Bill C-30, An Act to amend the Parliament of Canada Act and the Salaries Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.
If there's any time left before 11 o'clock, I would like us to have a few minutes to consider the draft report, as amended, on the question of privilege. Anyway, we'll get there when we get there.
We have the officials before us ready with the bill. I don't expect a statement on their part. I think it was made the other day—unless there is something that needs to be added.

Hon. Dominic LeBlanc (Beauséjour, Lib.): Mr. Chairman, I gave the clerk an amendment that is merely technical.

It's entirely technical. It was a typographical error; two words appeared in the bill that should not have been there. You have an amendment before you that clause 21 be amended by replacing the English version only, on line 10, page 12, with the following: “other Act and the heading before it”.
There were two words, Mr. Chairman, in the English version, at line 10. The words were “are Act”, which were simply redundant. They should have been removed.
I apologize for that. Shocking.
The Chair: All right. That being said—
Mr. Scott Reid (Lanark—Frontenac—Lennox and Addington, CPC): I'm trying to figure it out, because it doesn't look to me like an actual change is being made here, from the version of the act that I have in front of me.
The Chair: We're at line 10 on page 12. We have our clerk here, and others, and our experts, of course.
Is everybody at line 10?
Mr. Scott Reid: Oh, I see. That's right. It's right at the end.
It's the last two words that have been deleted. Is that right?
The Chair: The words that appear at the present time are “other Act and the heading before it are Act”. Obviously, there's at least one word too many there. You remove that sentence, replace it in English with “other Act and the heading before it”, and then you continue with “are repealed”.
The French one is okay.
The words “are Act” are there for nothing. All right?

The Chair: The amendment has been moved. All those in favour of the amendment?
