The Standing Committee on Industry, Natural Resources, Science and Technology met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 308 West Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Serge Cardin, Michael Chong, Hon. Denis Coderre, Paul Crête, John Duncan, Brian Masse, Lynn Myers, Hon. Jerry Pickard, Andy Savoy, Werner Schmidt, Brent St. Denis and Bradley R. Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Bernard Bigras for Paul Crête.

 

Associate Members present: Hon. Larry Bagnell.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Analyst; Lalita Acharya, Analyst; Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Natural Resources: George R. M. Anderson, Deputy Minister; Margaret McCuaig-Johnston, Assistant Deputy Minister, Energy Technology and Programs Sector; Frank Des Rosiers, Director General, Strategic Policy Branch; Philip Jennings, Director General, Energy Policy Sector; Carol Nelder-Corvari, Director General, Energy Policy Sector.

 

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on the Kyoto Protocol Sectoral Negotiations and Energy Sector.
 

George Anderson made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That an in camera business meeting be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2004, to discuss a proposed workplan.

 

At 5:24 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
