The Standing Committee on Industry, Natural Resources, Science and Technology met at 9:01 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Michael Chong, Hon. Denis Coderre, John Duncan, Brian Masse, Lynn Myers, Hon. Jerry Pickard, Andy Savoy, Werner Schmidt, Brent St. Denis and Bradley R. Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Gérard Asselin for Paul Crête and Marc Boulianne for Serge Cardin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst; Andrew Kitching, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Green Communities Canada: Bruce Pearce, Vice-Chair, Board of Directors. Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada: Robert Huget, Administrative Vice-President; Joseph Hanafin, Communications Director. Competition Bureau: Sheridan Scott, Commissioner of Competition; Suzanne Legault, Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Competition, Competition Policy Branch; Richard Taylor, Deputy Commissioner of Competition, Civil Matters Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of Fuel/Gasoline prices in Canada.
 

Bruce Pearce and Robert Huget made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:02 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:05 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, November 16, 2004, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-19, An Act to amend the Competition Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.
 

Sheridan Scott made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 11:06 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
