The Standing Committee on Industry, Natural Resources, Science and Technology met at 4:05 p.m. this day, in Room 371 West Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Serge Cardin, Michael Chong, Paul Crête, Brian Masse, Lynn Myers, Hon. Jerry Pickard, Andy Savoy, Werner Schmidt, Brent St. Denis and Bradley R. Trost.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Analyst; Andrew Kitching, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Food and Consumer Products of Canada: Crystal L. Witterick, Lawyer, Blake, Cassels and Graydon LLP. Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers: John F.T. Scott, President; Gary Sands, Vice-President, Government and Industry Relations; Anthony Longo, President and Chief Executive Officer, Longo Bros. Fruit Markets Inc.; François Bouchard, President, Country Grocer Inc. Canadian Independent Petroleum Marketers Association: Jane Savage, President and Chief Executive Officer; David Collins, Executive Vice-President, Wilson Fuels.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, November 16, 2004, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-19, An Act to amend the Competition Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.
 

Crystal Witterick, John F.T. Scott and Jane Savage made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 5:37 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
