The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills Development, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met by videoconference at 11:08 a.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Raymonde Folco, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Peter Adams, Hon. Eleni Bakopanos, Jean-Claude D'Amours, Barry Devolin, Raymonde Folco, Paul Forseth, Ed Komarnicki, Yves Lessard, Todd Norman Russell and Peter Van Loan.

 

Acting Members present: France Bonsant for Christiane Gagnon and Peter Julian for Tony Martin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Kevin Kerr, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Human Resources and Skills Development: Debbie Walliser, Manager, Service Canada, Estevan; Gregory Bloor, Manager, Service Canada, Weyburn. Town of Kipling: Bert Roach, Community Development Officer. Town of Coronach: Murray Setrum, Administrator. South Burnaby Neighbourhood House: Antonia Beck, Executive Director. As an Individual: Rebecca Finlay, Bachelor of Social Work Student.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on September 29, 2005, the Committee resumed its study of the Summer Career Placement Program.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 1:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

 

At 1:00 p.m., the Committee resumed sitting in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That November 3rd, 2005, Statistics Canada be invited to appear before the Committee in relation to the Summer Career Placement Program study.

 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee be authorized to order a very light lunch when the meeting is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m..

 

At 1:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
