Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), and a motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 6, 2005, your Committee recommends: That, in light of the established conflicts of interest of certain members of the Scientific Advisory Panel on Breast Implants who have worked directly and have been paid to promote silicone implants, by either of the two private sector implant manufacturers during US Food and Drug Administration hearings on the safety of silicone implants, the Standing Committee on Health urge the Minister of Health to temporarily stay this panel and its proceedings, to not make a decision or proceed, until such time as the Minister has appeared before the Committee to address this issue. |
Conformément à l'article 108(2) du Règlement et la motion adoptée par le Comité le jeudi 6 octobre 2005, votre Comité recommande : Que, compte tenu du fait que certains membres du Groupe consultatif d’experts sur les implants mammaires sont en conflit d’intérêt manifeste puisqu’ils ont travaillé directement et ont été rémunérés par l’un ou l’autre des deux fabricants d’implants mammaires pour faire la promotion de ce type d’implants pendant les audiences de la US Food and Drug Administration sur l’innocuité des prothèses mammaires contenant du gel de silicone, le Comité permanent de la santé demande au ministre de la Santé de suspendre temporairement les travaux de ce Groupe, de ne pas prendre de décision et de ne pas aller de l’avant jusqu’à ce que le ministre ait comparu devant le Comité pour discuter de cette question. |
