The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Bernard Patry, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Helena Guergis, Francine Lalonde, Alexa McDonough, Hon. Dan McTeague, Ted Menzies, Bernard Patry and Kevin Sorenson.

 

Acting Members present: Guy André for Pierre A. Paquette, Ken Boshcoff for Beth Phinney, Hon. Wayne Easter for Hon. Maurizio Bevilacqua, Hon. Mark Eyking for Hon. Lawrence MacAulay and Lee Richardson for Ted Menzies.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Lee, Analyst; Marcus Pistor, Analyst; Gerald Schmitz, Principal.

 

Witnesses: Grey, Clark, Shih and Associates Limited: Peter D. Clark, President. Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance: Liam McCreery, President. Union des producteurs agricoles du Québec: Martine Mercier, Second Vice-President; Serge Lebeau, Senior International Trade Manager, Agriculture. Canadian Council for International Cooperation: Gerry Barr, President and Chief Executive Officer; Gauri Sreenivasan, Trade Policy Officer. Make Poverty History: Mark Fried, Member, Steering Committee.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on November 17, 2005 the Committee commenced its study of World Trade Organization (WTO) Meeting in December 2005.
 

Mr. Clark, Mr. McCreery and Ms. Mercier made statements and, with Mr. Lebeau, answered questions.

 

At 12:10 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:30 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Mr. Barr, Ms. Sreenivasan and Mr. Fried made statements and answered questions.

 

At 1:21 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
