The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 308 West Block, the Chair, David Chatters, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Ed Broadbent, David Chatters, Johanne Deschamps, Art Hanger, Marlene Jennings, Mario Laframboise, Derek Lee, Russ Powers and David Tilson.

 

Acting Members present: Susan Kadis for Navdeep Bains, Guy Lauzon for Russ Hiebert and Lloyd St. Amand for Paul Zed.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas, Analyst; Nancy Holmes, Analyst. House of Commons: Jean-Philippe Brochu, Committee Clerk.

 

Witnesses: House of Commons: Audrey O'Brien, Deputy Clerk.

 
Pursuant to the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, December 1, 2004, the Committee commenced its study on the mandate of the Committee.
 

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee consider motions relating to the mandate of the Committee at the end of the meeting with the Ethics Commissioner on Wednesday, December 8, 2004.

 

The Committee resumed consideration of the motion of Russ Hiebert which was allowed to stand on December 1, 2004 and which read as follows: That Vote 12a (Office of the Ethics Commissioner) of the Supplementary Estimates be tabled with the Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics Committee, instead of the Procedure and House Affairs Committee.

The Chair ruled that the terms of the motion had lapsed as all supplementary estimates are deemed reported back to the House today.

 

At 4:36 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
