The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 1:08 p.m. this day, in the Salon Sarah Bernhardt, Hotel InterContinental Montréal, Montreal, Quebec, the Vice-Chair, Meili Faille, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Roger Clavet, Meili Faille, Helena Guergis, Rahim Jaffer, Bill Siksay and Hon. Andrew Telegdi.

In attendance: House of Commons: Jean-François Lafleur, Legislative Clerk . Library of Parliament: Benjamin Dolin, Analyst.

Witnesses: National Association of Canadians of Origins in India: Flora Almeida Marlow, President. Social Democratic Front: Félicité Tchapda, President, Cameroon. Quebec Interprofessional Council: André Gariépy, Lawyer and Director General. Quebec Immigration Lawyers Association: Patrick Claude Caron, CA member; Elaine Doyon, Lawyer and Vice-President. Coalition of Concerned Congregations on the Law relating to War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity including those of the Holocaust: Kenneth M. Narvey, Legal Researcher, Chief Operating Officer. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, the Committee resumed its study of Recognition of the International Experience and Credentials of Immigrants.

Panel I. Foreign Credentials

Flora Almeida Marlow, Félicité Tchapda and André Gariépy made statements and answered questions.

At 2:22 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 2:32 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, the Committee resumed its study of Family Reunification Issues.

Panel II. Family Reunification

David Siner, Félicité Tchapda, Rivka Augenfeld, Richard Goldman and Sanjiv Kumar made statements and answered questions.

Patrick Claude Caron, Kenneth M. Narvey, Flora Almeida Marlow, Georgette Heidi and Alfred Lukhanda made statements and answered questions.
