The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 9:03 a.m. this day, in Room 371 West Block, the Chair, Andrew Telegdi, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Colleen Beaumier, Roger Clavet, Meili Faille, Helena Guergis, Inky Mark, Bill Siksay, Andrew Telegdi and Lui Temelkovski.

 

Acting Members present: Nina Grewal for Rahim Jaffer.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Benjamin Dolin, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Hedy Fry, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration.

 

Witnesses: Department of Human Resources and Skills Development: Chris Bolland, Manager, Foreign Credential Recognition, Human Resources Partnerships. Department of Citizenship and Immigration: Rénald Dussault, Director General, Selection. Department of Health: Bob Shearer, Director, Health Human Resource Strategies Division. Department of Citizenship and Immigration: Diane Vincent, Associate Deputy Minister.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing session on Foreign Credential recognition.
 

On motion of Meili Faille, it was agreed, — That the evidence and documentation presented to the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration during the 2nd Session of the 37th Parliament and 36th Parliament in relation to its study of An Act respecting Canadian Citizenship be deemed received by this Committee in this session.

 

Hon. Hedy Fry made an opening statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 
At 10:20 a.m., the Vice-Chair, Inky Mark took the Chair.
 
At 10:24 a.m., Andrew Telegdi took the Chair.
 

At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
