The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met in a televised session at 11:09 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C Centre Block, the Chair, Andrew Telegdi, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David A. Anderson, Meili Faille, Hedy Fry, Helena Guergis, Rahim Jaffer, Inky Mark, Bill Siksay, Andrew Telegdi and Lui Temelkovski.

 

Acting Members present: Nina Grewal for Diane Ablonczy and Yvon Lévesque for Roger Clavet.

 

Other Members present: Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jennifer Wispinski, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canada Border Services Agency: George Bowles, Director, Immigration Ports & Border Management Division, Admissibility Branch. Department of Citizenship and Immigration: Johanne Deslauriers, Director, Social Policy and Programs Division, Selection Branch; Rénald Dussault, Director General, Selection Branch; Robert Orr, Director General, Refugees Branch; Bruce Scoffield, Director, Policy Development and International Protection, Refugees Branch; Himmat Shinhat, Acting Director, Asylum.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, the Committee proceeded to a briefing on its study of Family Reunification Issues.
 

Rénald Dussault made a statement and, with the Johanne Deslauriers, answered questions.

 

At 12:45 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:48 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) , the Committee resumed its study of the Post Implementation of the Safe Third Country Agreement.
 

Robert Orr made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 1:14 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
