The Chair (Hon. Andrew Telegdi (Kitchener—Waterloo, Lib.)): The Citizenship and Immigration Committee will come to order.

Monsieur Roger Clavet, did you have a motion?

[Translation]

+-

Mr. Roger Clavet (Louis-Hébert, BQ): Yes. I would suggest that the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration pass a motion to congratulate Benjamin Dolan on the quality of his report, the relevance of the summary and content, and the accuracy of the different views presented.

[English]

+-

The Chair: Thank you very much.

Do we get a speech from Ben?

+-

Mr. Benjamin Dolin (Committee Researcher): I'd rather not, really.

+-

    The Chair: Thank you

I think it's very relevant, and I thank you very much for that.

    Any comments? Mr. Siksay.

+-

Mr. Bill Siksay (Burnaby—Douglas, NDP): Mr. Chair, I just want to add my appreciation to Ben as well. In working on the review, I think the concerns we raised were all taken into consideration. I think it's a very helpful document and really appreciate the work that's been done on it. Thank you very much.

+-

    The Chair: Good.

    Anybody else?

+-

Hon. Hedy Fry (Vancouver Centre, Lib.): I add my congratulations. Use it on your resumé.

+-

The Chair: Let me just say he had to bring together stuff that happened under Bill C-63, Bill C-16, and Bill C-18. Certainly, we're very fortunate. It's almost like a very strong foundation on which we as a committee get to proceed.

So thank you very much for that, Ben. Congratulations, and don't blush.

+-

Mr. Benjamin Dolin: It's too late.

+-

The Chair: They're accolades that are very well deserved.

I guess that ends our public meeting.

    An hon. member: [Inaudible—Editor]

    The Chair: Oh, that's right.

Let me call the vote from the committee.

+-

Mr. David Tilson (Dufferin—Caledon, CPC): What's the motion?

+-

The Chair: We're congratulating our senior analyst on the excellent work he has done on the report.

All those in favour of the motion, please so signify.

    (Motion agreed to)

+-

    The Chair: It is unanimous.

    Congratulations.

+-

Mr. Benjamin Dolin: Thank you very much.

-

The Chair: Our public meeting now comes to a close. We're going to go into private session and go through the report.

    [Proceedings continue in camera]
