The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met in camera at 9:09 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Marlene Catterall, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Charlie Angus, Gord Brown, Hon. Sarmite Bulte, Marlene Catterall, Sébastien Gagnon, Maka Kotto, Bev Oda, Yasmin Ratansi, Gary Schellenberger and Mario Silva.

 

Acting Members present: Paule Brunelle for Sébastien Gagnon.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Joseph Jackson, Senior Analyst; Sam Banks, Analyst; Matthew Carnaghan, Analyst. As an Individual: David Black, Consultant.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of Canadian Feature Film Industry.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

At 10:31 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:49 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

It was agreed, — That, Charlie Angus' motion be dealt with on Wednesday, November 23, 2005..

 

At 11:46 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:01 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

At 12:02 p.m., the Committee proceeded to sit in public.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That, the Committee adopt the revised motion presented by Maka Kotto wich reads as follow:

That in the opinion of the committee, the federal government must tighten its policies in broadcasting, as the Committee said in the report named Our Cultural sovereignty: the Second Century of Canadian Broadcasting, so that Canada entirely controls broadcasting in radio and television on its territory.

.

 

At 12:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
