The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 9:07 a.m. this day, in the Admirals Ballroom, Radisson Plaza Hotel Admiral Toronto-Harbourfront, Toronto, Ontario, the Chair, Marlene Catterall, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Gord Brown, Sarmite Bulte, Marlene Catterall, Marc Lemay, Bev Oda, Gary Schellenberger, Mario Silva and Scott Simms.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sam Banks, Analyst. As Individual: David Black, Consultant.

 

Witnesses: Directors Guild of Canada: Sturla Gunnarsson, Chair, National Directors Division and Filmmaker; Pamela Brand, National Executive Director; Arden Ryshpan, Manager, Director Affairs. Writers Guild of Canada: Maureen Parker, Executive Director; Judith Thompson, Screenwriter; Gail Martiri, Director of Policy. PS Production Services Inc.: Doug Dales, President and Chief Executive Officer. Women in Film and Television - Toronto: Kate Hanley, President; Natalie Kallio, Communications Coordinator.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of Canadian Feature Film Industry.
 

Sturla Grunnarsson, Pamela Brand and Arden Ryshpan made statements and answered questions.

 

Maureen Parker and Judith Thompson made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:41 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:52 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Doug Dales made an opening statement and answered questions.

 
Kate Hanley made an opening statement and with Natalie Kallio answered questions.
 

At 12:08 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
